POLICY PRIORITIES

Mental Health & Substance Use Treatment

Colorado’s behavioral health system must meet people where they are, early, affordably, and without stigma, so no one is denied care because of cost, age, or circumstance. My legislative work focuses on expanding access to prevention, treatment, and recovery services for people across the lifespan, from youth to older adults, with a particular emphasis on communities that have been historically underserved.

I have led and passed legislation to expand overdose prevention education and naloxone access in schools and public spaces, recognizing that timely, accessible treatment saves lives. I continue to advance policies that integrate mental health and substance use treatment into community settings, strengthen crisis response, and ensure care is treated as essential healthcare, not a privilege reserved for those with resources.

Affordability & Economic Opportunity

Affordability is about more than the cost of living, it’s about whether people earn enough to live with dignity. I am committed to policies that strengthen wages, protect workers, and support unions so families can build long-term stability, not just get by.

My work centers on economic fairness, workforce protections, and policies that create opportunity across generations. As Colorado faces rising costs and economic uncertainty, I am focused on ensuring working people are not left carrying the burden while corporations and systems avoid accountability.

  • Advocacy for policies that strengthen unions and collective bargaining

  • Consumer protections that guard families against rising costs and exploitation

Criminal & Juvenile Justice Reform

A justice system that works is one that prioritizes prevention, accountability, and rehabilitation. I advocate for reforms that reduce recidivism, address underlying behavioral health needs, and improve public safety while treating people with dignity.

Drawing on professional experience in the justice system and legislative leadership, I have advanced policies that expand diversion options, improve reentry outcomes, and ensure individuals are not trapped in cycles of incarceration due to untreated mental health or substance use needs.

Dignity, Safety & Opportunity for Older Adults

Colorado’s aging population deserves policies that reflect respect, protection, and inclusion. I am focused on safeguarding older adults from financial exploitation, expanding access to affordable healthcare and long-term care, and modernizing systems so seniors can remain independent and connected.

My work recognizes that protecting older adults also strengthens families and communities. From consumer protections to healthcare access, I am committed to ensuring Coloradans can age with dignity and security.
